The Triskel

In all of my books, you will see a symbol called the triskel (sometimes called triskelion). It is also the name of my self-publishing company, Triskel Books. What is this symbol, and why do I use it?

The Symbol at the Heart of My Stories

The triskel is an ancient symbol that has captivated the imaginations and spirits of many cultures throughout history. Its intricate, three-fold spiral design evokes motion, evolution, and sacred continuity. It is often understood as a symbol of balance—of life in motion rather than life standing still.

At its heart, the triskel represents three in unity:

Body, mind spirit.
Past, present, future.
Birth, death, renewal.

It is a symbol of progression—not in a straight line, but in a spiral. We do not simply move forward. We deepen. We return. We transform.

Why the Triskel Appears in Every Book

If you’ve read The Evensong Enchantments books you may already feel why this symbol resonates so deeply with the story. Ena (Catherine) herself embodies a trinity of paths—woman, mother, and wielder of ancient power. She stands between worlds: crown and grove, Church and Old Magic, seen and unseen. Her journey is not about choosing one over the other, but about holding the tension between them until something higher is revealed.

The triskel has long been associated with feminine power and the sacred rhythm of creation. It reminds us that strength does not always roar. Sometimes it spirals quietly, steadily, transforming everything it touches.

The trilogy, too, mirrors the triskel’s motion:

Sacrifice
Valor
Truth

Three movements of one story. Each book turning the spiral further inward—and outward—at the same time. And then there are the three portals… the three amulets… and three generational threads woven through past, present, and prophecy. Nothing in this series is accidental.

The Meaning Behind Triskel Books

The kind of power I strive to write about is not domination. It is not rebellion for rebellion’s sake. But sovereignty. Integration. And wholeness. When I chose the name Triskel Books, it was not simply because I loved the symbol. It was because it reflects the foundation beneath every story I tell. Each book I write moves through three currents:

  • the seen and the unseen

  • the wound and the healing

  • the human and the divine

Like the triskel, my stories spiral rather than march. They return to old questions at deeper levels. They allow characters to fracture—and then re-form with greater coherence. They honor the tension between opposites until something truer emerges at the center. That center matters. Because the triskel is not just three separate arms in motion. It is three arms anchored to one still point.

For me, that still point is Truth.
The kind that does not shout.
The kind that cannot be legislated or erased.
The kind that lives quietly in the soul and waits to be remembered.

Triskel Books is my commitment to stories that move—but also stories that center. Those that explore shadow and light, faith and doubt, power and surrender—yet always spiral toward integration.

Three lines. One center. And always—motion toward Truth.

Thank you for walking the spiral with me,
Helyn
